Cavewoman No More | 10,400 Followers!!! <3
Thank you so much for making me reach almost 10,400 followers on my Facebook Page, Makeup By Marj Sia. <3
It started out as a for-fun portfolio page only when I exported my albums from multiply so I never expected it would become THIS BIG. I think my page became dormant for a while with 3,000 followers only because my phone was a low-tech Nokia phone and I could only manage my page via web. I used to be such a cavewoman; I would only replace my phone whenever it would start to shut off by itself (lol) I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing because now I would buy a new one in less than a year. @__@
I guess the only 2 downsides of updating one’s gadgets is the cost and exporting old data/ familiarizing oneself with the new unit. (which is quite easy, actually) But I realized that I would have never expanded my network if it were not for my smartphone and 3G. So I’m very thankful to Globe for pulling me out of the stone age and welcoming me into the social media world.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a very thrift person so I was iffy about spending on mobile internet at first but after 6 months of being subscribed to Globe Unlisurf/ 3G, I realized that every cent is worth it. Let me share some awesome experiences:
- I was having dinner with a friend at one of my favorite restaurants and as usual, instead of praying before meals, I would take and post an instagram photo of my food. When I asked for the bill, I received a P1,000 Gift Certificate for my next visit. Turns out, the owner was following my IG account and happened to be there! Back when I didn’t have 3G, I had to wait until I got home or had wifi just to post these. By that time, I would have already digested the food in my photos. :)) (Follow me @DearMarjSia)
- I was in the middle of booking suppliers when I felt that I could still lessen my cost. So I tweeted “How much does silk screen printing usually cost?” then one of my helpful readers gave me a contact and they were half the price of the person I was talking to! That saved me and my client a lot of money because we were printing on thousands of merchandise!! :o
- When I was using my half-dead Nokia phone, my Facebook Page followers got stuck with about 3,000 and it didn’t move for almost a year. But when I changed to my Blackberry, it reached 8,000 immediately and then it shoot up to 10,400 in a span of 6 months when I got my iPhone 4s. I swear, 3G changed my life.
Nowadays, it’s also a bit embarrassing to tell brand managers, PR agents, clients and suppliers that “I’ll reply to your e-mail when I get home because I don’t have wifi/3G”. I don’t mean to insult anyone without 3G, but in our competitive and fast-moving industry like fashion and cosmetics, we really have to make quick decisions and stay updated while we’re on-the-go. And hey, you can be productive while being stuck in traffic! :D We live in a world where social networking sites plays a key role to making one’s business grow so I’m raising the white (cavewoman) flag and hopping into the techie bandwagon too. I bet my geeky friends are happy now that I’m connected via Whatsapp, Viber & iMessage 24-7 thanks to Globe 3G. XD

Believe it or not, I was able to come up with this outfit in less than 5 minutes only since ince I had to rush a lot of errands in between the presscon and concert. I just grabbed the brightest things in my closet!

Of course, attending a Nicki Minaj concert allowed me to break all the rules in fashion. I don’t like wearing mismatched earrings and necklaces or chunky with chunky (in this case) but I had to take advantage of the situation and overload my outfit with bright things!

I totally forgot to change my rings from the presscon but I still got loads of compliments because of them. It’s also my first time to use this pair of platform stilettos. I love how lightweight and comfortable they are!

Nicki Minaj Concert (late post)
I finally found time to blog again!! I am typing this entry from the beautiful Island of Guam. Yes, I brought my laptop here just so I can catch up on some event backlogs and of course, I can’t go through a week without at least posting something! :)
I’m sure you all know that I was able to score tickets to the Nicki Minaj concert at SM MOA - The Arena thanks to Globe Postpaid. The perks of being a loyal subscriber to the one and only network I trust! :)
TBH, I’m not a super crazy big fan of Nicki but I had to accompany 2 of the closest girls to my heart, my sister and my BFF who is visiting from the US, Bianca! It was such a big thing for them to see Nicki because they’re HUGE fans and they memorize all of her songs! Haha!
To our left, we spotted the lovely Cheyser Pedregosa and Raleene Cabrera.
Seph & Shai were seated right behind us. It was their 1st concert together so I’m glad I was able to ruin it make it more memorable for them. I think our midnight snack after the show was more memorable though. :))
Right in front of us were the Becky Nights team!! I wonder where mother Divine is??
The crowd went wild when Nicki opened the show with Starships!!! Here are a few photos from the concert:

I have to admit, there were around 3 songs wherein people got a bit bored because they were slow and I think about heartbreak. People are there to go wild, not mourn over past lovers. That’s Taylor Swift’s job!! :)) but nevertheless, we enjoyed every single song!
Nicki hand picked a few fans to go on stage with her to perform.
The girl with the big hair on the right was sooooo good!!! I thought that she was one of the backup dancers!!! :p
This was my favorite part of the show because her wig inspired my previous outfit for her presscon.
We were shocked that the concert was so short. I think there were only around 7 songs!?!? Everyone was hoping there would be an encore act. Boo.

Despite the extremely short concert, I had good quality time bonding with my sister and good friends during and after the show. I couldn’t ask for more. <3

The Power Of One | Globe Tatt Awards
One dab of concealer can hide hundreds of flaws.
One pat of blush can attract you thousands of men.
One tube of lipstick can last you through millions of kisses. (but please don’t try this with millions of men, I’ll lose respect for you) hahaha just kidding!! :)
I just watched Globe Telecom’s latest TVC and realized how one small thing can create such a big impact to millions of people.
Like how my best friend’s makeup set gift to me during my debut turned me into a makeup artist; how my one night of being grounded at home back in 2010 lead me to become bored and turned me into a blogger; how my one simple tweet touched other people’s lives and turned them into followers, readers and some, even turned into my friends.
I’ve been a Globe subscriber since cellphones were as big as TV remote controls. Lol. I never thought of switching because I am happy with their service plus almost all of my friends and family are Globe users too. I’m also stubborn when it comes to switching phones. All my friends call me a cavewoman because I refuse to switch phones until I have to hit it hard to make it function. LOL. Most of the time my Nokia phones last me about 5-6 years!! :))
But since I because close to my friend’s geeky sister, Jen, she would always nag me to get a smart phone. I think I was still using the gold Nokia L’Amore phone back when we first met and she was like “WTF? How can you live with that thing!?” haha XD I guess because of geek pressure, I gave in and got a Blackberry. Globe’s social plan & data servie has really changed my life because it was easier for me to update followers, post reviews and build my social network while on the go.
Just last week, Jen laughed so hard because saw that I was gong crazy not just with my BB, but also a new iPhone4s on my other hand and I would Instagram every single dish I order when we go out. (and it’s annoying her like hell) I know I’m already late but hey, instead of switching phones in 6 years, I got a new one in less than a year. She transformed me from the Flintstones to the Jetsons! But I, on the other hand, turned her into a girly girl. She hated makeup, short dresses and heels but now she dresses, acts and talks like me. *evil Barbie laugh* :)) See how one person can change your life? :) You know, this actually reminds me of my favorite quote from One Tree Hill…..
